Advocates for Children


Program Requirements
(to receive citation on permanent transcript)



The following information applies to students who entered the program in the Fall of 1997 or more recently.

In order to receive a CPS Citation, a student must complete 16-18 credits with an overall average GPA of 3.0 in designated CPS courses, including ENGL 101 (13-15 credits if exempted* from ENGL 101).

These credits must be satisfied during the two-year period (4 semesters).




Required Coursework


Colloquium (Total of 3 credits)
Composition (unless exempt*) (3 credits)
*College-level composition coursework is strongly recommended for all students.
Issues in Child Advocacy (3 credits)
Supporting Courses (6 credits)
Complete two courses from the following list.
These courses fulfill university "CORE" requirements. A suitable course may be substituted if approved by the Director of the Advocates for Children program. Both courses must be completed by the end of semester 4.

CORE Humanities (HO): EDPA 210, PHIL 140
CORE Life Science: Non-Lab (LS): NFSC 100

Internship/Practicum (1-3 credits)
Internship/Practicum must be pre-approved by the Director of the Advocates for Children program, and completed by end of Semester 4. One alternative that fulfills this requirement is the "Dicovery Projects" Practicum
